It was 70 degrees when we left Bowling Green/WKU early this morning. When we stepped off the plane in Dallas a few hours later, the heat of the day had already hit 103! It is now almost 11 p.m., and day one is winding down as we all head to our rooms and prepare for our busy day tomorrow. While it has not yet been 24 hours into the experience, we have already met to cover all of the course expectations, settled into our hotel and met up with a couple of great ladies, Gina and Summer, from the International Association of Venue Managers for some mouth watering BBQ at Hard Eight in Coppell.
In case you are unfamiliar with IAVM, they have been a vital professional partner to our Masters in Facility and Event Management program since 2011. One of the things that you can tell from speaking with Gina and Summer is that they not only love what they do for IAVM, but they are passionate for their fields overall. They are excellent examples of successful professionals in the field who love what they do!
Tomorrow begins our facility tours, and we have a great kickoff event on the books with the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington. Check back with us tomorrow to see the full itinerary as well as to catch a couple of student reflections on the day’s events.
