The Charlotte Convention Center was definitely a site to see! When I think of a town convention center I think of just a normal size building with a large room with a stage area with a few meeting rooms. But this, this was something much, much more on a way larger scale. They promote something that it is more! And it is, they have room for meetings that can tap over 90,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space, a 35,000 sq. ft. ballroom, 850,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art features and award winning amenities and full-service, award-winning catering. Adding to the Charlotte Convention Center’s dynamic event possibilities, the Crown Ballroom, neighboring the NASCAR Hall of Fame, connects to the facility via a convenient over-street walkway, offering the same impeccable service and catering. I was taken back on how large the facility was and what their capabilities are.
Something that is very interesting and unique about this facility is that this building is in the form shape of an L. Two large rooms are on the vertical part of the L and a large room on the horizontal part of the L, and they are all massive. Plus everything else they have going on! The most impressive room, I think, was the Crown Ball Room. Huge space, 40,000 sq. ft. to be exact, that was very nicely decorated, has a nice size stage, good lighting, and two huge screen projectors. Fun fact, during the NFL season in the winter the Carolina Panthers would use that exact ball room to have practice and walk-throughs because of the bad weather outside. It’s that large.
A few other great things that the Charlotte Convention Center holds are cheerleading competitions, volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, and trade shows. They are also the home of the NASCAR Hall of Fame that was built in 2010. This also includes a museum of artifacts from the NASCAR races and overview of the history of the sport and their greats. The reason that Charlotte is the home of the hall of fame museum is because they presented a better facility and amenities and it is the home of most of the NASCAR drivers.
The Charlotte Convention Center is all that and more! It was such a neat experience to go behind the scenes of a large facility and view everything from the other side. This facility is state of the art that offers a great number of needs to the public of Charlotte in North Carolina.
